Videos that inspired our brand image.

Many music videos that we have researched from different genres have inspired and given us ideas for our video. We have found a mix of indie and rock and roll videos which have inspired us in different ways, we have analysed the stroy line/editing and lighting of the videos and got ideas/inspiration on each of them. Here is an analysis of are partciular favourite ones:

The Libertines: Time for Heroes

This video influenced our ideas to use split screens all the way through the video to show two different narratives. This video shows the band having a good time and staying young which meets the brand image of our band. This video includes conventions of sex/drugs/ rock and roll which is the brand image we are highlighting to meet our primary target audience. The mise en scene in this video appeals to us as the band wear leather jackets/skinny jeans which is the brand apperance we are trying to aim for in our music video. One of the most important thing that attracted us to this video was the way in which the camera is being held. It is behind hand held which helps create the image that the band are filming this themselevs, showing their everyday lives.
Arctic Monkeys : When the sun goes down.

We have looked at this video because it is all about drugs and having sex for money to buy the drugs. This video shows how the character live is affect by the drug. The realism and the fast paced editing of this video is something we would like to include in our video and we think it is a very effective use of editing. The music in the background is in the same genre as the music we are using for our video, so we have got inspiration and took pointers of how the band have created their brand image through the shots/editing. The lighting of this video is also what attracted us to it as it is quite low lighting and helps the video to look like it is real life, which is what we are aiming for our video.

This is another music video that has inspried us and given us ideas for our own video, this is track by a band called The Cribs who are a british rock and roll/punk band, quite like the band we are using for our video. This is a track called 'Im a Realist' and is a split screen of a boy and a girl throughout the video which is how we want to shoot our music video, we feel that it works very well in this particular track and we like how the contrast lighting of the different images have blended well together. Another thing that caught our eye about this video was the vinyl player at the begginging, this is how we plan to start our music video and we like the high angle shot of the player which we may use when shooting our video. From 1.47-1.50 we really like the fast paced editting of the close up of the girls face, we feel like really suits the background music and will hopefully be using this editing within our video.
